The SOAR Evolution

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. My fluid life spans multiple disciplines, including ministry, pharmaceutical R&D, learning and development, web design, e-learning design, and youth and community leadership.

Now working independently, I am the founder and creator of The Place to SOAR and SOAR Travel Ministry. I am also a John Maxwell Team life coach and a writer. In my first publication I was a contributing author in Motherhood Dreams and Success: You can Have It All, an anthology filled with inspiration and wisdom by a diverse group of women from around the world.

I serve my clients through integrated life coaching and personal development. The 10 SOAR Values I've created serve as a springboard, reflecting my own experiences with redesigning my life after leaving corporate America.

One SOAR value that really hits home for me is one that has resonated throughout most of my life - continuous improvement. This SOAR value is related to life coaching and personal development in that continuous improvement is a core motivation.

As a life coach I help clients navigate towards a goal or to make a life change. Personal development is a process of self-improvement through continuous learning, enhancing skills, and setting/achieving goals and objectives. Continuous improvement activities are self-determined, self-directed and self-monitored.

I encourage you to take a holistic approach to integrate mind, body and spirit along with personal accountability and responsibility.

One tool I use is a dynamic personal profile, an examination of your current circumstance of living, choices made or to be made and desired consequences. The central question becomes this: If you continue doing what you are doing in your life today, where will you be in five years?

Which brings me to the third tool, the Before 5 AM Blueprint for Success, a step-by-step guide to designing your desired life. The guide presents the 10 parts of the blueprint for your life as an opportunity to get clear on what is truly desire, who you want to be and how you want your life to be.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
~ Marianne Williamson

In essence, it was the right time, the right message and the right opportunity.

I've been writing most of my life, rather informally I supposed, mostly poetry. I wrote a pretty incredible piece for a homework assignment in a study of the Prelude to the Canterbury Tales in junior high. The characters in my prelude were from the cartoon, Archie and the Gang, as they were on their way to a Fourth of July picnic.

Also because I like to write creative nonfiction, I like the concept of the hero's journey, the idea of finding one's voice in life and being empowered to tell their story in that voice. I'm currently completing a spiritual memoir, my first plunge into a solo creative nonfiction piece. So, I guess we'll see how that goes!
